Waterman Expedition - Siku Lagoon

Arctic Expedition - Siku LagoonPhoto credit: John Burcham

Driftwood scattered on the shore of Siku Lagoon. Ocean currents carry the spruce logs over 300 miles west from the Mackenzie—the longest river in Canada—after they’ve drifted up to 2,000 miles north. Icy Reef, a barrier island, separates the lagoon from the Artic Ocean.
